Honest and thorough! With auto repair rates creeping up on $100/hour at most any shop these days, it's nice to find mechanics who will actually go the extra mile. It's pretty easy to find dishonest mechanics who will overcharge, and round up to the next hour, so they can get the extra money. When you find a place where a one hour labor charge equals one hour of hard work (or more), that's where you want to take your car.
