BMW Service & Repair in Sarasota, FL
BMW has been building the ultimate driving machine since 1916. We service the full BMW lineup at Nott's Automotive in Sarasota, from the 3 Series to the X7, with OEM parts and the ISTA diagnostic software.
BMWs are some of the most rewarding cars to drive, but they need a mechanic who knows the platform. We see a lot of BMWs at Nott's Automotive because we have the right tools and the right parts. We use the ISTA diagnostic software that BMW dealers use, and we install OEM or quality German aftermarket parts. We've been working on BMWs since we opened in 2011, and every repair comes with our 24-month, 24,000-mile Tech-Net warranty.

Common BMW Repairs We See
The N52 inline-6 engine in the 2006 to 2013 3 Series, 5 Series, and X5 has an electric water pump that fails around 80,000 to 100,000 miles. When it fails, the car overheats fast. We replace the water pump and thermostat as a set, since they're both electric and both fail around the same mileage. The N52 also has a known issue with the valve cover and oil filter housing gasket leaking oil onto the exhaust. If you smell burning oil after a drive, bring it in. We replace both gaskets and clean the oil off the subframe.
The N54 turbo engine in the 2007 to 2010 335i is a beast, but it has issues. The wastegate rattles when it wears out, causing a turbo underboost code. We can replace the turbos or install upgraded units. The high-pressure fuel pump also fails on the N54, causing long cranks, misfires, and a fuel pressure code. We replace the HPFP with the updated version. The N54 also eats ignition coils. We use the updated Bosch coils and recommend replacing the spark plugs every 30,000 miles on tuned cars. The N55 that replaced the N54 is more reliable but still needs the water pump and valve cover gasket addressed at the same mileage.
The E90 3 Series (2006 to 2011) has an oil filter housing gasket that leaks onto the belt. If the belt gets oil on it, it can slip off the crank pulley and get sucked into the timing cover, which destroys the engine. We replace the oil filter housing gasket and the belt tensioner before that happens. We also see a lot of BMW electric thermostat failures across all models. The thermostat has a heating element that fails and triggers a code. We replace it with an OEM Wahler or Mahle unit.
Why Bring Your BMW to Nott's
Our ASE-certified technicians use OEM BMW parts or quality German aftermarket parts from brands like Mahle, Wahler, and Lemforder. We have the ISTA diagnostic software that BMW dealers use, so we can read every module, code a new battery, program keys, and do the same service functions the dealer does. We know the N52, N54, and N55 engines and we know what fails and when. We stock common filters and brake parts for the 3 Series and X5, so most routine service is done same-day. We're a family-owned shop that's been in Sarasota since 2011, and we won't charge you dealer prices.
