GMC Service & Repair in Sarasota, FL
GMC has been building professional-grade trucks and SUVs since 1912. We service the full GMC lineup at Nott's Automotive in Sarasota, from the Sierra to the Yukon, with OEM parts and the right diagnostic tools.
GMC shares a lot of components with Chevrolet, but GMC owners expect a more refined truck. We see plenty of Sierras and Yukons at Nott's Automotive, and we know the differences between the GMC and Chevy versions. We have the GM diagnostic software that GMC dealers use, so we can read every module and program the same components. We've been working on GMCs since we opened in 2011, and every repair comes with our 24-month, 24,000-mile Tech-Net warranty.

Common GMC Repairs We See
The Sierra 1500 shares the same 6L80 transmission as the Chevy Silverado, and it has the same problems. Hard 1-2 shifts, torque converter shudder, and pressure control solenoid failure are common on 2007 to 2014 models. We can rebuild the transmission or install a Jasper reman unit with a 3-year, 100,000-mile warranty. On the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, the AFM (Active Fuel Management) lifters collapse and score the camshaft. If you hear a tick that doesn't go away, bring it in before it gets worse. We also see a lot of Sierra transfer case failures on the 4WD models. The transfer case pump rubs through the rear housing and leaks fluid. We check the fluid on every Sierra service.
Yukon and Yukon XL models from 2015 to 2020 have AC condenser failures. The condenser cracks at the driver-side mounting bracket and leaks refrigerant. We replace it with an updated design that has a reinforced bracket. The AC compressor clutch also fails around 80,000 to 100,000 miles. We replace the compressor, condenser, and receiver drier as a set to prevent contamination. We also see Yukon air suspension issues on the Denali models. The air compressor fails and the rear sags. We replace the compressor and check the air bags for leaks.
The 2.4L engine in the 2010 to 2017 Terrain is known for oil consumption. Some of these engines burn a quart every 1,000 miles. The PCV system clogs and causes oil leaks from the valve cover and timing cover. We replace the PCV valve cover as a unit. If the oil consumption is severe, we do a consumption test and can replace the piston rings or short block. We also see timing chain issues on the 2.4L, with a rattle on startup that indicates the tensioner is failing.
Why Bring Your GMC to Nott's
Our ASE-certified technicians use OEM GMC parts on every repair. We have the GM diagnostic software that GMC dealers use, so we can program modules, read body control codes, and do transmission adapts after a repair. We stock common filters, brake pads, and AC components for Sierras and Yukons, so most routine work is done same-day. We're a family-owned shop that's been in Sarasota since 2011, and we treat your GMC like it belongs to us.
