Ram Truck Service & Repair in Sarasota, FL
Ram has been building trucks since 1981 and they've come a long way. We service the full Ram lineup at Nott's Automotive in Sarasota, from the 1500 to the 3500 Cummins, with OEM parts and techs who know these engines.
Ram trucks are a big part of what we do at Nott's Automotive. The Ram 1500 is one of the most popular trucks in Sarasota, and the 2500 and 3500 with the Cummins diesel are serious work trucks. We have the wiTECH diagnostic software that Ram dealers use, and we stock the common filters and parts for both gas and diesel Rams. We've been working on these trucks since we opened in 2011, and every repair comes with our 24-month, 24,000-mile Tech-Net warranty.

Common Ram Repairs We See
The 5.7L Hemi in the Ram 1500 is known for the "Hemi tick." There are two kinds. The first is the exhaust manifold bolt that breaks off, causing a ticking sound on cold startup. We extract the broken bolt and install an updated manifold with better bolts. The second is more serious. It's the lifters wearing out and scoring the camshaft. If you hear a tick that doesn't go away after warmup, get it checked. We can replace the lifters and camshaft before the engine is destroyed. The MDS (Multi-Displacement System) also causes lifter failure on these engines. We recommend changing the oil every 5,000 miles with a good synthetic to protect the lifters.
The 6.7L Cummins in the Ram 2500 and 3500 is one of the best diesel engines ever built, but it needs strict maintenance. We do oil changes every 7,500 miles, fuel filter replacements every 15,000 miles, and DPF cleaning as needed. The CP4 high-pressure fuel pump on the 2019 and newer models is a known failure point. When it fails, it sends metal through the entire fuel system and the repair can run $8,000 to $12,000. We recommend a fuel additive with every fill-up to add lubricity. We also see EGR cooler failures and turbo vanes sticking on high-mileage Cummins. We can clean or replace the turbo and EGR system.
The 3.0L EcoDiesel in the Ram 1500 has had its share of problems. The 2014 to 2019 models had a class-action lawsuit for the EGR cooler cracking and causing coolant leaks. We replace the EGR cooler with an updated design. The EcoDiesel also needs the oil changed every 8,000 miles with the correct 5W-30 full synthetic. The timing chain on these engines stretches, and we've replaced several. If you hear a rattle from the front of the engine, don't wait.
Why Bring Your Ram to Nott's
Our ASE-certified technicians use OEM Ram parts on every repair. We have the wiTECH diagnostic software that Ram dealers use, so we can read every module, program keys, and do the same relearns the dealer does. We have the tools to service the Cummins fuel system, including the high-pressure pump and injectors. We stock oil filters, fuel filters, and brake pads for Ram 1500s and 2500s, so most routine service is done same-day. We're a family-owned shop that's been in Sarasota since 2011, and we know these trucks.
